Notetaker Menu

Main Menu Sub Menu Function
File
New Clear the screen. Start a new document.
Open Load a new document. It will be copied to the student display.
Save Save the document to disk, giving the document a name if necessary.
SaveAs Save the document to disk, giving the opportunity to change the name.
Recover Load the latest backup document.
Print Send the document to the current printer. 
Print Setup Display the print setup form.
Set Printer Margins Display a form to alter the width of the margins for printing
Fast Direct (Only relevant to direct (serial) cable connection.) Use high speed (19200 bits per second) if checked. Otherwise 9600 bits per second - may be more reliable.
Export Defaults Save the current settings to a file for transfer to a different PC or user
Import Defaults Load the settings from a file
Word Count Display the number of words and lines in the document.
Exit Close the program.
Edit
Undo Undo the last operation.
Cut Cut the selected text to the clipboard, so it can be pasted into this or another application.
Copy Copy the selected text to the clipboard, so it can be pasted into this or another application.
Paste Paste any text from the clipboard into the documentation at the current cursor position.
Select All Select all the text in the main window
Clear Messages Clear the messages from the student
Resynchronise Clear the student's notes and copy all the note taker's document to the student.  This can be used if the two programs have become out of step.
Session Settings Alter the note-taker's name and the title of the session.  These are saved with the document.
Search
Find Find a string (a word or a phrase) in the text
Replace Find and replace a string (a word or a phrase) in the text.  
View
Toolbar Hide the Toolbar to provide more space for text.
Status Hide the Status Bar to provide more space for text.
Messages Hide the Message box to provide more space for text.
Autohide Toolbar The Toolbar will hide when the mouse moves off it and be restored when the mouse moves back
Full Screen The editing region will fill the whole screen.  The Toolbar will reappear when the mouse is moved to the top of the screen. Restore normal windowed operation using the button on the toolbar.
One line entry Enter text in a separate single line editbox
Format
Font Change all aspects of the font used to display the document.
Background Change the background colour used to display the document.
Text Colour Change the colour of all text in the display.
Character Colour Change the colour of new characters
Bold Toggle bold formatting for the selected text.
Italic Toggle italic formatting for the selected text.
Underline Toggle underline formatting for the selected text.
Left Align the selected paragraphs to the left.
Centre Align the selected paragraphs to the centre.
Right Align the selected paragraphs to the right.
Bullet on/off Add or remove bullets to the selected paragraphs
Numbered List Add or remove numbered list formatting to the selected paragraphs
Alphabetic List Add or remove alphabetic list formatting to the selected paragraphs
Tools
Use Abbreviations Turn Abbreviations on (and load an abbreviation file if one isn't already loaded)
Load Abbreviations Load an abbreviation file (and turn abbreviations on)
Edit Abbreviations Alter the currently loaded abbreviations, and allow the abbreviations to be saved
Clear  Abbreviations Remove any loaded abbreviations
Define F Keys Modify the strings associated with the Function (F) Keys
Automatic Capitals If checked, letters appearing immediately after a full-stop, exclamation mark or question-mark and a space will be capitalised.
Check Spellings Check the spellings from the current position
Set Language Set the language dictionary used by the spelling checker
Edit Spellings Edit, delete, add spellings. Spellings can be added individually or loaded from a file. You can save spellings to a file.
Clear Known Spellings Delete the current list of spellings
Symbol Map Display the special character selection
Modify Symbols Alter the available special characters
Trace Turn on or off the recording of debugging information.
Save Trace Save the record of debugging information.
Default Speaker Colours Restore the original colours associated with the F keys
Reset Text Colour Return the current colour to normal - usually used when a speaker with a different colour text finishes speaking

Show by Letters Display text as it is typed, letter by letter
Show by Words Only display full words, rather than a letter at a time.
Show by Lines Only display text when a full line is typed. (To reduce delays, it will display text after 80 characters are typed)
Follow Changes Scroll to show every change made by the notetaker
Follow New Text Only scroll when the notetaker adds text at the end.
Don't Follow Don't scroll - new text is only displayed when one of the above options is selected.

Text Colour Change the colour of the text used to display the document.
